Role: Product & Device Test Engineers (Media Handling Reliability)
Location: Dundee, Scotland
Two positions are available for “Product & Device Test Engineers” specialising in media handling reliability evaluation to work within the Solution Test and Compliance Team based in Dundee. This team supports all test and certification activities across engineering development of ATM banking machines. This role will support the Media Handling Reliability Evaluation aspects across the range of cash dispensers, cash and cheque processing, cash note acceptors/recyclers and coin dispense/deposit devices used across NCR’s financial and retail products. As a Product & Device Test Engineer you will contribute to ensuring test plans and specifications are developed for both hardware and software components and conduct independent tests and evaluations focusing on functional specification validation, testing to stress conditions and testing to failure. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent communication and reporting skills.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Development of test reliability demonstrations, conducting tests, investigating incidents, characterising problems, effective tracking and reporting through to resolution. The full range of responsibilities includes;
Development of test and validation plans
Development of comprehensive test scripts and test scenarios to fully test design against to specification and stress limits
Contributing to supporting device and product tests and evaluations
Planning, developing and conducting independent testing to support engineering teams
Environmental tests and media handling performance evaluations
Test environment development, supporting test equipment, test rigs, and supporting software,
Specialist media test deck development to support media specification and stress testing
Reliability performance demonstrations
Development of robotic and automated test capability
Creating test reliability targets from Functional Specifications, creating status reports, incident failure details, investigation analysis, data metrics and overall test reports.
Physically conducting tests to understand device capabilities
Facilitate design analysis and FMEA level reviews analysing a range of device attributes including, ease of replenishment (loading/removal), usability, ease of service, diagnostic capability, reliability etc
Verify cassette capacity, deposit/reject/capture bin capacity performance to spec.
Facilitate competitive analysis and compare device key attributes against comparative devices
Facilitate field issue investigations and analysis
Facilitate validation of Value Engineering and Total Cost of Ownership change proposals
Support Global Currency Template Team and Professional Services teams with template development data collection, template performance validation and device media handling transport testing
Develop common media handling test specification and report templates,
Facilitate development and maintenance of an accessible media handling data repository to manage, project data, test specifications, device reference documents, test reports, reliability data and test process development documents
Media evaluation lab administration process support, booking system, scheduling, capacity management, audit support etc.
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Computer Engineering or related field
Good understanding of reliability testing and product evaluation
Ability to design and create reliability test plans and targets from device Functional Specifications.
Able to work independently and within a cross-functional team environment
Thorough attention to detail
Great communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to investigate test incidents via device logs and CEN XFS software platform.
Programming language knowledge for supporting robot set-up and test.
Familiarity with device driver software would also be considered an asset
